Most assessments are those that are self-rated by the individual. The individual is asked a set of questions, statements, or set of words that will generate a report or series of reports based solely on the individual’s responses.

Multi-rater assessments, also known as 360 assessments, are based on the results from a variety of individuals that the employee works with: peers, direct reports, and managers (direct/indirect). The employee is rated on a series of statements, which describe specific leadership competencies that are specific to the organization. The employee is also asked to self-rate him/herself. The 360 assessment is not used for employees who aren’t directing other employee work.
